Becoming a Queen: Lessons in self-esteem from my son
This morning I went out to my back studio for my meditation/contemplation/oracle card practice and it wasn't long before I was joined by my son (6 yrs) and my puppy. I've been popular since I returned from my trip away.
I was using Alana Fairchild's Kuan Yin oracle cards which have a visualisation/healing process associated with each card.
This particular visualisation involved stepping into a flowing river of sound and rainbow light and letting the water cleanse and renew my body. I decided to read it aloud so John John could join me in the visualisation, and when I was directed to visualise sound washing over me like water I toned (sang) in my best healing voice for effect.
John John nestled into me, snuggling into my breast as he has done since a baby. "Mummy, are you ever going to be a queen."
His love for me is epic.
This question embarrassed me somewhat though and I nervously chuckled "I don't know."
Perhaps, if I was my ideal imaginary self, I would have owned this question "I'm a queen in my own life" or something like that. But I did not, and maybe it was a missed opportunity to role model healthy self esteem and masterful life skills.
The truth is I often feel far from a queen, but I am grateful my son sees the potential in me, and thinks such an honour is deserved. It's a reminder to be grateful to myself for the good I do.
I ask you now to take a moment to be grateful to yourself for all the good that you do. No doubt, you are a King or Queen to someone out there, and you matter very much.
